G'day all. Just wondering if anyone's had experience buying boats or other non-car stuff from Coral Coast Auctions? I've seen they've got a decent 5.2m runabout listed and I'm keen, but most repo auction chat seems to focus on cars and utes. Does the process work the same way? Cheers
Mate, bought a Quintrex tinnie from them last year. Process is identical to cars - all done online through coralcoastauction.com, delivered to my place, title sorted. No dramas whatsoever. The photos were accurate and delivery was actually quicker than I expected.
I got a Kawasaki motorbike through Coral Coast Auctions back in Feb. Same deal - online bidding, delivery arranged, all paperwork came with it. Honestly thought it'd be dodgy but was pleasantly surprised. Bike was exactly as described in the listing.
Yeah nah it's legit. My partner bought a jet ski from them and I was skeptical at first but the whole thing went smooth. Delivery took about a week and a half which was fine. Title came through no worries at all.
Cheers for the replies! That's reassuring. Did any of you have to organise transport yourselves or did they handle it all?
They organised everything. It's delivery only btw - you can't pick up in person. But honestly that suited me fine, saved me hiring a trailer. Driver called ahead to confirm timing and all that.
I've bought 3 boats through repo auctions over the years, one from Coral Coast Auctions. The key is to read the condition report properly and look at all the photos. They're pretty transparent about any damage or wear. Got a ripper deal on a Stacer last year, saved about 8 grand compared to private sale prices.
I had a bit of a hiccup with their customer service when I was asking about a boat trailer. Sent an email to office@coralcoastauction.com and it took them nearly 2 days to get back to me. Was a bit frustrated at the time but when they did reply they were really helpful and answered everything. Ended up not bidding on that one but would still use them again.
@CoastalKris I reckon they must get heaps of emails mate. When I bought my Ducati from them I called instead and got through pretty quick. But yeah their email support could be faster I spose. Still, once you're actually dealing with them they're good.
Another boat buyer here. Got a Quinny 4.2 with a Yamaha 60 on it. Best part was not having to chase down the title - it was all handled by Coral Coast Auctions and arrived perfectly with all the registration docs. Bank had already cleared it before delivery. Made the whole thing stress-free.
How do the prices compare? I've been looking at boats on Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace but haven't checked repo auctions yet.
@MachoMick Generally cheaper if you know what you're looking for. Banks just want to recover the loan so you can get decent discounts. I'd say check coralcoastauction.com and compare to market prices. Just factor in that these are repo'd so sometimes there's minor cosmetic stuff but usually nothing major.
Yeah I saved about 4k on my bike compared to what dealers wanted for similar condition. There was one tiny scratch on the tank that wasn't super clear in the photos but honestly it was minor and I touched it up myself for 50 bucks.
My husband bought a caravan through them last month. I was worried about the title situation with repos but it was fine - the bank cleared it right after payment went through and the clear title arrived with the van during delivery. They must have their process sorted because it was all very professional.
Awesome, this is exactly what I needed to hear. Gonna put a bid in on that runabout this weekend. Fingers crossed!
Good luck mate! I got a Sea-Doo from Coral Coast Auctions about 6 months ago. Make sure you set your max bid and stick to it - easy to get caught up in the moment lol. But yeah, whole experience was good, would recommend.
Anyone know if they do dirt bikes? Been looking for a decent trail bike.
@GazTheGreat They do. I've seen a few listed when I was browsing. Just keep an eye on the site, inventory changes pretty regularly.
I run a small marine dealership and I've actually bought a couple boats from repo auctions to refurb and resell. Coral Coast Auctions is one of the better ones imo. Transparent about condition, reasonable reserves, and the admin side is straightforward. No issues with titles or paperwork which is crucial when you're buying for business.
I was looking at a boat on their site last week but the website seemed to glitch out when I tried to view the photos. Refreshed and it worked fine after that but was a bit annoying. Didn't end up bidding on that one anyway but yeah, minor tech issue.
@BruceyBoats Yeah I noticed the photo gallery can be a bit slow to load sometimes, probably just the file sizes. Works fine on my laptop but was laggy on my phone. Not a dealbreaker though, still way better than some other auction sites I've used.
Pro tip for anyone new to coralcoastauction.com - read the condition report AND look at every photo, zoom in on stuff. They give you heaps of info. Also delivery was originally scheduled for a Tuesday for me but came Thursday instead - they kept me updated though so wasn't a drama.
Update: Won the auction! Got the runabout for 6800 which is an absolute steal. Payment went through yesterday and they've already organised delivery for next week. Stoked! Thanks everyone for the advice.
Beauty! Congrats mate, that's a good price. Enjoy getting out on the water.
Nice one @MartyB! You'll love it. Make sure to give her a good once-over when she arrives but I reckon you'll be happy with it.
That's a ripper deal. I'm actually gonna have another look at their listings now after reading this thread. Seems like most people have good experiences.
Been buying and selling boats for 20 years. Repo auctions are honestly one of the better ways to find value these days. Coral Coast Auctions is solid - they're not cowboys, they do things properly. No issues with receiving clean titles, paperwork is all above board. If you're nervous about it just email office@coralcoastauction.com with questions before bidding.
Agreed. I was nervous as hell before my first bid but honestly it was fine. Would definitely use them again if I'm in the market for another bike or maybe even a boat one day.
Boat arrived this arvo! Everything looks great, motor runs smooth, no surprises. All the paperwork and clear title came with it like everyone said. Really happy with the whole experience. Cheers again for all the help!
Legend! Enjoy mate, sounds like you got a good one.
